Asset labels are small printable stickers with a scannable code that links straight to a device's or location's detail page. Scan the code to open the record, either with a phone camera (QR) or a barcode scanner (DataMatrix, Code128).
Find this feature at Settings → Asset Labels.
Use the search box to filter devices by name, asset tag, or serial number.
Click a device to select it, or use Select all to select every device matching the current search.
Selected items show a running count and a batch limit note. Each print job is capped at 500 labels (after copies are applied).
You can also print labels for locations, either one at a time or in bulk.
When you print, pick either a saved template (see below) or one of the built-in presets:
Sheet presets, for laser/inkjet printing on pre-cut label sheets: Avery 5160, 5163, 5164, and 5167 on US Letter, and Avery L7160 and L7163 on A4.
Roll and thermal presets: 2" × 1" (203 or 300 dpi), 1½" × 1", 1" × ½", and 2" × 1¼" thermal rolls, plus Dymo 30252, Brother TZe 24 mm tape, and Brother DK-11201.
Other options in the print dialog:
Copies per label — print each item 1 to 10 times.
Start position — on sheet presets, skip already-used positions on the first sheet so you can finish a partially used sheet of labels.
Templates let you save a layout once and reuse it, instead of picking options every time you print. Manage them from the Label templates card on the Asset Labels page.
There are two kinds:
Preset templates apply a saved set of options on top of a built-in media preset: which 2D symbology to use (QR code or DataMatrix), whether to include a Code128 barcode strip, which fields to show (device name, serial number, organization logo), and the text patterns for the headline and an optional extra line.
Custom templates are built in a drag-and-drop designer: place text, QR code, DataMatrix, Code128, and logo elements anywhere on a label of any size (in millimeters), and set the target printer resolution.
Text and Code128 elements accept data tokens that expand per item when printing: {assetTag}, {name}, {serialNumber}, {modelName}, {manufacturerName}, {categoryName}, {locationName}, {assigneeName}, {organizationName}, and {labelCode}. Locations only support {name}, {organizationName}, and {labelCode}.
Every template shows a live preview rendered by the same engine used for printing, so what you see matches the printed output.
You can set one template as the default for devices and a (possibly different) template as the default for locations. Once set, printing without picking a specific layout uses that default. Printing a mix of devices and locations at once falls back to a default only if one template is set as the default for both; otherwise you'll be asked to pick a layout explicitly.
From the templates list you can also duplicate a template or delete it. Deleting a template does not affect labels you already printed.
Upload a logo to print on labels from templates with the logo field turned on. Go to the Label templates card and upload a PNG or JPEG under 200KB; oversized images are downscaled automatically before upload. Remove it at any time to clear it from future prints.
QR codes scan with any phone camera. DataMatrix packs the same data into a smaller symbol, which fits tighter labels, but needs a dedicated 2D imager rather than a phone camera.
Label templates target a specific printer resolution, and a QR code, DataMatrix code, or Code 128 barcode that is packed into too small a box can print too dense for a scanner to read. AssetBolt checks for this both while you design a template and when you print, and warns you before the label goes out looking fine on screen but failing at the scanner.
Each warning names the control that fixes it, for example:
Print on a specific larger or higher-resolution label instead, when one is available.
Set Target printer to a finer resolution, if your printer supports it.
Set 2D code type to DataMatrix, which packs the same data into larger modules than a QR code.
Turn off Include Code 128 barcode and rely on the 2D code, if the 2D code scans on its own.
Widen the element's box or shorten the text it encodes, for a custom design.
If none of those would help, for example a design already at the top printer resolution, the warning says a finer printer will not fix it and points you to a larger label instead.
If your browser blocks the print pop-up, you'll see an error explaining the pop-up was blocked. Allow pop-ups for the app and try again.
If the underlying list changes (items added or removed) while a large batch is still loading, refresh and reselect rather than printing a stale or incomplete batch.
